I don't want to do it. I really don't. I'd like to wait until every man or woman in this country is free to marry the person they love before I put a ring on my finger, but sometimes you don't have much choice. The health insurance company that covers Mike's employer is willing to insure me as his domestic partner, but we are seriously thinking about moving to Kentucky within a year or so, and it's highly unlikely that his new employer will offer me any coverage at all.
If we do have to get married for insurance, we might as well do it right. Today, I decided to check out some bridal sites, and found this great selection of wedding articles. They have a lot of good ideas for getting the basics taken care of -- things like how to choose a wedding ring and hire a photographer. I'm pretty sure my boyfriend and I won't be wanting a traditional wedding. In fact, I started planning one of those with my ex-fiance and that fact alone is enough to turn me off to using a reception hall or church for my "special day."
Thinking about it now, I just realized that I have quite a few friends who are in the midst of wedding planning right now, and I'm sure they would benefit from a quick look at that site. Even if I never tie the knot, someone I know surely will!
