Sometimes, I look back and wish that I was still running my own business. Once upon a time, I had a great little store selling punk clothing on the main street in my town. I brought my daughter to work with me, and she learned about politics and music and how to be a little social butterfly from my most loyal customers. It was an idyllic life, hanging out in the store, making friends with the people who stopped in, and being a mom at the same time. Unfortunately, we just didn't make enough money to keep going.
Looking back, I wonder if taking a loan would have helped. I was really afraid of getting into some terrible debt, but a small loan may have helped to fund some advertising and keep the store alive. My boyfriend could have gotten a payday loan and bought us some billboard space or something. I kind of feel like we just gave up too soon.
I love the job I have now, and I probably have more freedom here than I did with my store, but I guess there are bound to be what-ifs and regrets on some level. Ahhh, what might have been!
