It seems quite off to be thinking about weddings only a couple months after separating from my long-term partner. However, that's what I've been thinking about, for one reason or another, in the past week or so.
It all started, I suppose, when a friend mentioned that she would like to get out of doing wedding photography and start concentrating more on portraits and family pictures. Of course, that made me go look at her website, and of course, I ended up browsing through all the wedding photos she's done. I don't think I was the only one to comment on her blog post and ask if she would make an exception for MY hypothetical wedding, some distant day in the future!
There are many great photographers out there, though. My friend in the Washington area, an online acquaintance up in British Columbia, a buddy near Seattle, and I recently met a wedding photographer in Dorset as well. They're all over the place!
The weird wedding obsession didn't end with pictures, though. There are songs, too. Train's "Marry Me" has been on repeat on my ipod these days. It's a really beautiful song, and as always, that band makes me wish that I could be their muse. You mean they aren't singing about me?!
Strangely enough, for all these weird wedding things popping into my life, I don't actually crave a big fancy one. Oh, I'd love to marry Mr. Right in some lovely setting, and of course, I'd want nice pictures to help me remember the event, but I'd rather save my money for traveling or a house or even retirement. The wedding is only one day, but the marriage should last a lifetime!
